A time to reflect
As we revel in the holiday season and mark the end of another year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many blessings we enjoy as Texans and thank you for your engagement in shaping the future of our state.
While I could be philosophical about our state’s continued economic dominance (still America’s #1 job creating state), I prefer to focus on the incredible success of an industry for which Texas is known around the world: ENERGY. After all, as your Chairman of the Railroad Commission of Texas, it’s a story that’s close to my heart.
Thanks to the classic Texas mix of innovation, risk taking, and hard work, our state’s energy industry is leading the charge for independence from OPEC’s iron grip. Texas is responsible for 36% of the crude oil produced in our country this year, which translated into a whole lot of jobs and a positive economic impact on communities across the state.
As the “black gold” flowed in Texas, I’m maybe prouder of another important color for which we’re known: red. Republicans registered BIG victories in political races up and down the ballot, validating years of conservative leadership in Texas and rejecting the failed policies of the Obama administration.
I was honored to play a role in that process, chairing the “Victory” effort for the Republican Party of Texas, pushing for voter registration, education, and motivation. Now comes the next step: leading from a position of conservative values. I think Texas is going to be even stronger as a result, in 2015 and beyond.
So, before 2015 gets underway, I hope you and your family are able to rest, enjoy this festive time with loved ones, and be truly grateful for the blessing of living in the freest state in the greatest nation in the world.
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to you and yours. God bless the great state of Texas!
