AUSTIN – Railroad Commissioner Christi Craddick today addressed the Energy Security Council (ESC) at their summer meeting in Austin, thanking the group for their support on issues related to oilfield safety anti-crime efforts.

“As the industry grows, criminal issues that may arise with regard to oil and gas are ever changing and may in some cases be new to law enforcement,” Craddick said. “While the state works to gather information on this type of activity, the Commission’s shared responsibility with law enforcement in this effort has been essential to preserving the safety of our communities, businesses and resources.”

The ESC’s summer meeting works to develop opportunities for a meaningful exchange of ideas, information and best practices on security issues in the oilfield; enhances networking capabilities on security within the energy sector and among key partners, and; identifies key security issues affecting the energy industry and shares innovative and proven best practices.

The ESC is a non-profit organization whose members represent global oil, gas, power generation, transmission, petrochemical and related service companies, adding value to the industry through education, information-sharing for best security practices, and networking to enhance security within the sector. With more than 300 members from the law enforcement community, the ESC has been a leader in energy security education and networking since 1982.
