SAN ANGELO, Texas – One size does not fit all when it comes to writing rules for Texas’ water management in a time when the oil industry is booming in the state.
“In Texas, it’s a bottom-up process. Nobody tells Texas what to do,” said Kathleen Jackson, member of the Texas Water Development Board. She spoke Wednesday at San Angelo’s McNease Convention Center for the 11th annual West Texas Legislative Summit.
Hundreds of attendees convened for the second day of the summit, which runs through Thursday and is hosted by the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce. Lawmakers, lawmakers-elect, local officials, business leaders and oil industry representatives arrived from around West Texas for the summit and an Energy Expo running alongside the event.
